QUIET TIME FOR CHRISTIANS
(Christianology : Doctrine Of Christians)
SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION

* Quiet Time is a special time with God with nothing interfering

1. A Time Where Everything Is Quiet Where Nothing Interferes Where The Word Of God Is Shown To Us
1 Samuel 9:27 And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.

2. Be Still And Knowing God
Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

3. Emptying Ourself Is Opening To Demon Possession
Matthew 12:43-45 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
* Yoga teaches to empty oneself and this is asking for trouble leading to demon posession

SECTION 2: HOW TO KNOW GOD BETTER

1. Bible Reading
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
* to mediate upon His book

2. Prayer
1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

3. Memorising Scriptures
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

4. Study The Word Of God
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

5. God Likes To Talk Personally When Everything Is Quiet
1 Kings 19:11-13 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

6. God Likes To Talk Especially At Night
Genesis 26:24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.
Judges 6:25 And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:
1 Samuel 15:16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.
1 Samuel 3:2-4 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
2 Samuel 7:4 And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,
1 Kings 3:5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
Acts 18:9-10 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:
10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.
Acts 23:11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

SECTION 3: THE PURPOSE OF QUIET TIME

1. Time Of Friendship With God
Exodus 33:11-12 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
12 And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.
Exodus 33:17 And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
* God was talking to Moses as a friend

2. Prepared For Spiritual Attacks
Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

a. What Is The Armour Of God?
Ephesians 6:17-18 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
* Word of God = helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit
* Prayer is involved into being prepared for the spiritual battle

3. Prevent It From Being Disorderly

40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

4. Do It Frequently

Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

5. Confess Sins Before Hand
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

6. Ask For Revelation
Psalms 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

7. Find A Special Place
Genesis 13:4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

SECTION 5 PROBLEMS OF QUIET TIME

1. Interuptions From The Devil
Daniel 10:2-3, 12-13 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
* Daniel was praying for 3 weeks and was interupted by satan

2. Disruption In Our Mind

36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
* Jesus asked His disciples to pray and He went to pray and when He came back, He found them sleeping

4. Wrong Spirit

11 Cast me not away from thy presence;
