FAITH FOR SALVATION
(Soteriology : Doctrine Of Salvation)
SECTION 1: DEFINITION

1. Faith Something That We Hope In Without Seeing
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
* Believing without seeing

2. There Are 2 Types Of Faith
a. Head Believe: Knowing And Believing, Believing With The Knowledge

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

b. Heart Believe: Believing Whole Heartedly That You Will Act Upon It
Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
* Believe "on"

SECTION 2: SOURCE OF FAITH

1. God
a. God The Father

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

b. God The Son
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

c. God The Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

2. The Bible
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
* We believe what we believe because of what the bible say

3. Prayer
Luke 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

4. Gift of the Holy Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:9-11 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

SECTION 3: OBJECTS OF FAITH

1. The Word Of God
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

2. Jesus Christ
Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

3. Blood Of Jesus Christ
Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

SECTION 4: RESULTS OF FAITH

1. We Know God Exist
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

2. We Get Saved
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

3. We Receive Christ
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

4. We Are Justified
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
* Being declared righteous

5. We Become The Children Of God
Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

6. We Are Sanctified
Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
* Set apart from sin into holiness

7. We Are Kept
1 Peter 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

9. We Gain Blessings
John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Hebrews 11 (Entire Chapter)

10. We Have Power
Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

SECTION 5: REASONS FOR LOSING FAITH

1. Sight
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
* Seeing is believing
* Our faith has reason

2. Fear
Matthew 14:29-31 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

3. Suffering
Job 9:16-17 If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
17 For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.

4. Reason
Matthew 16:8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
* Our faith should have enough reason to believe

5. Truth
John 8:45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
* They don't want the truth
