* The devil will try to make us doubt our salvation
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
* Noticed verse 11: "This is a record"
* Once God records it cannot be changed
* Noticed verse 13: "that ye may know"
* We can know for certain we are going to heaven
* Once we believe on Christ we have eternal life, (its fixed, permanent) not conditional, temporarily
* Once we're saved, we are always saved and we know it
* Noticed the verse: "and am persuaded"
* That means we know we are going to heaven
* Noticed the verse: "For we know"
* That means we know we are going to heaven
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
* Once we are in Jesus Christ, nothing can separate us from God because "for I am persuaded"
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
* Noticed verse 18: "Wherefore comfort one another with these words"
* This verse is supposed to be comforting for us to know
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
* 1st and 2nd security: We are secured in God the Father and God the Son's hands
* Nothing can pluck us out of Jesus & God the Father's hand
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
* 3rd security: We are secured in God the Holy Spirit's sealing us until the day God redeems us up to heaven (rapture)
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
* Hath everlasting life, no condemnation (present tense): “He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation;”
* Passed from death unto life (past tense)
* Noticed verse 6: “made us sit” (this is past tense). It did not say “will make us sit”
* That means a part of us is already settled sitted in a reserved place in heaven with God when we got saved
* In God's eye, since the first person that God saved to the last person that got saved during the church age, a part of them are already sitted in heaven with Him
* That means we may be alive on earth, but when we trust Jesus Christ as our saviour, a part of us is already sitted in heaven
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
* Right after we believe, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit
* We are sealed until the day God redeems us up to heaven (rapture)
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
* Noticed verse 27: we are members of the Body Of Christ
* It is impossible to loose a member of the body because then there will be no body
* Can we say to another that they are not saved? No because we are all stuck together in the body Of Jesus Christ
* If we think that because we have sin or we have a lack of righteousness or holiness and we cannot go to heaven?
* Noticed verse 23-24: Less honourable is filled with abundant honour (God makes up for it)
* God is the one doing the work giving us abundant honour
* Noticed verse 25: "That there should be no schism in the body;"
* No schism = no division, no flaw
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
* This is one of the greatest verses on eternal security. If we ever doubt our salvation, this is the verse we should have.
* Noticed that there is an operation of God that is a spiritual circumcission. What is it in our body that God cut us off? He cut "us" off from our "body of sins"
* circumcission of Christ means its done by Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one who performs this circumcission
* the soul is cut loosed from the body of sins and our soul and body is not stuck together anymore.
* Eg Ice cube tray.
* Fill up water in the tray - ice becomes part of the tray
* Break up the ice from the tray but leave the ice in the tray - ice is no longer part of the tray - it is cut off but still in the tray
* No matter how many sins we commit in our body, we are cut off from that. Why? Because who's the real us that God saved? God saved our soul
* That's why it makes sense why God can't condemn us to hell because He cleansed away all the sins of our soul
* The soul is not corrupted with sin no matter how many times a saved person sins in their body => Once Saved Always Saved
* Once we believe on Jesus for our salvation we transform from a son of Satan into the son of God
* No matter what kind of wrong doing, we will always be God's son
5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
21 And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
* If we deny him, he will also deny us - this is talking about "reign"
* Noticed verse 13: "If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself" is because we are already part of His body (the body of Christ)
8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousnes
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
* God is going to make sure we don't sin
* Chasten means to inflict suffering
* Scourge means the pain one feels to the point of a whip or a lash
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. * A farmer sows the seeds and he will reap the seed.
* If he sows bad seed, he is going to reap bad fruit
* If he sows good seed, he is going to reap good fruit
* A murderer who that thinks that he can kill anyone and go to heaven, God says he is not going to get away with it
* Flesh reap corruption. You reap what you sow
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
* Our body is temple of God, If we defile it, God will will destroy and kill us
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
* God will judge saved christians and it is described as "terror"
