ADAMIC COVENANT
(Covenants)
SECTION 1: TERMS OF ADAMIC COVENANT

1. Painful Childbirth
Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
* That’s why there is no gender equality

2. Wife To Submit To The Husband
Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

3. Earth is Cursed
Genesis 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
* That’s why there is famine, poverty, catostrophe, earthquake etc

4.Man To Work For Living
Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

5. Humanity Cursed By Dying And Returning To The Ground
Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

6. Satan Is To Crawl, Seed Of Man Will One Day Bruise Satan’s Head
Genesis 3:14-15 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
* The seed who will bruise satan's head is Jesus Christ

SECTION 2: ADAMIC THEME = CONSCIENCE

1. Man Knows What Is Right And Wrong
Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

2. God Was Judging Cain & Abel’s Sacrifice Based One Their Conscience, How Well They Follow Their Heart
Genesis 4:4-7 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
* if Cain would have followed the conscience of his heart, he would have done the right thing. If Cain did well like he was supposed to, God would have accepted his sacrifice.

3. What’s The Result Of Mankind Following Their Conscience? Their Conscience Is Messed Up. They Became Wicked: God Saw Their Wickedness, Repented He Made Them, God Was Grived In His Heart And God Wants To Destroy Them
Genesis 6:5-7 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
* Man at their conscience messed up and God is to drown them all out with a flood
* Some say why is God so cruel to judge people to hell as they are just trying to follow their conscience.
* From here, we can see that God already proved it by giving man a chance to follow their conscience but they messed up and they ended up in sin

4. There Was One Exception. Noah Was The Exception, God Favoured Noah With Grace Because He Walked With God
Genesis 6:8-9 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
* Grace means something we don’t deserve yet we get it
* Some people use this verse to prove Noah was saved by grace only
* It is true that grace of God was given through beginning to end but they don’t read verse 9
* The keyword is Noah walked with God
* Man during that time did not follow their conscience and because they did not follow their conscience, what did God do? God drowned them all with a flood and they died and went to hell
* If Noah did not walk with God, that means he would not have followed his conscience and he would have done the same thing like the rest of the world did that time and he would be like the rest of the world where he will end up being drowned in the flood
* God made him an exception because he was one who was compared to the rest of them who was living right
* If he was living evil like them, God would have drowned him too

5. How Or When Does God Judge By Consience?
a. Those Who Have The Law Are Judged By The Law And Those Who Does Not Have The Law Are Judged By Their Conscience

Romans 2:13-16 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
* Man is justified before God if he would do and follow the law but for those who do not have the law, they are judged by their conscience.
* People who do not have the gospel or law will be judged by their conscience but people who have the gospel or law will be judged by the gospel or law

b. Example Of Someone Who Followed His Conscience Because He Does Not Have The Law: Cornelius a Non Jew, Followed His Conscience & God Send Someone Who Will Give Him The Gospel
Acts 10:1-5 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,
2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

SECTION 3: ADAMIC SALVATION = FAITH + WORKS

1. Faith & Works Is Required For Salvation
a. Abel's Faith Had To Be Accompanied By Works By Offering Better Sacrifices Unto God To Receive Righteousness

Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

b. Noah's Faith Had To Be Accompanied By Works By Building An Ark To Save Himself And His Family
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Genesis 3:13-14 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Genesis 7:5 And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.
1 Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
* Noticed Hebrews 11:7: Noah was called heir of righteousness by faith
* If Noah did not build the boat, he would have not been qualified to be called the heir of the righteousness by faith
* He would have been condemned, drowned out with the lost world.
* Noah chose to be separated from the lost world by building an ark.
* Noah was saved by faith and works had to accompany it.

2. Works Is Required For Salvation: Doing Works To Obtain Man’s Own Righteousness Was Part Of Their Salvation Plan
a. Because Noah Walked With God, He Was Considered Perfect In His Righteousness

Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
* They had to go by doing somekind of works by their own effort to obtain their own righteousness
* walking with God and obeying His commandments is a work that requires effort

b. People Who Walk In God’s Commandments Is Considered To Be Righteous & Blameless
Luke 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
* God was judging them at the best of their ability that time

c. They Have To Deliver The Salvation Of Their Own Soul By Their Own Righteousness
Ezekiel 14:14 Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.
* they have to do it by their own effort

d. God Condemns Us If We Rely On Our Own Righteousness For Salvation Today
Romans 10:3-4 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
* This shows that there was a time when people's salvation plan were by man's righteousness not God's righteousness

Note:
* Their salvation plan is different from ours.
* They had to go by doing somekind of works by their own effort to obtain their own righteousness
* They had to go by this method because Jesus had not died on the cross yet where He can make a legitimate perfect official standard of righteousness for the world
* For christians, we are saved by God’s righteousness not our own righteousness
* Christians are imputeth God's righteousness by faith alone (without works) when we believe in the blood atonement of Jesus Christ (His death, buriel and ressurection) for our salvation

e. Righteousness In Type: Sewing Fig Leaves By Themselves Is a Type Of Their Own Self Righteousness And God Sacrificing An Animal On Their Behalf To Cover Their Sins And Clothed Them Is A Type Of God’s Righteousness Which He Freely Gives
Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
* humans doing the active work by their own effort signifies their own righteousness and God doing the active work on behalf of humans while humans without effort being the passive recepient just receive it signifies God’s righteousness
* This is clearly seen when Jesus died on our behalf as our substitute and we just have to believe that He completed our salvation and receive it.

3. Blood Atonement Through Animal Sacrifices Is Required For Forgiveness Of Sins
a. God Did Blood Atonement On Their Behalf Through Animal Sacrifices To Cover Their Sins

Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
* shedding of animal blood as sacrifice were for forgiveness of sins. God must have taught them about this

b. Abel Offered Animal For Blood Atonement Sacrifice And God Respected It. However Cain Offered Fruit And God Had Not Respect For It
Genesis 3:4-5 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
* Abel followed his conscience and obeyed and brought animal for blood atonement sacrifices to atone for his own sins
* Who taught Abel how to do this? Certainly by his parents
* Cain however, did not follow his conscience to do the right thing

4. God’s Grace Can Be Seen Throughout The Entire Bible From Beginning To The End: Rather Than Destroying Adam & Eve, God Made Coats For Them And Clothed Them
Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

5. Salvation Can Be Lost in This Dispensation
* If Noah have not obeyed, he would have lost his salvation

SECTION 4: IMPORTANT HIGHLIGHTS

A. LOSING THE IMAGE OF GOD

1. Adam Was Created In The Image Of God
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
* Adam's lost the image of God & the spiritual nature died when he sinned
* Unless we have the spiritual nature being made alive (by being born again) then only we can have the image of God

2. Adam’s Descendants Do Not Have The Image Of God, They Carry the image of Adam
Genesis 5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

3. Distinguishing Between The Image Of Adam And The Image Of God (Jesus)
1 Corinthians 15:47-49 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

a. The First Man Of The Earth Is Adam
1 Corinthians 15:47a The first man is of the earth,..

b. The Second Man, The Lord From Heaven Is Jesus Christ
1 Corinthians 15:47b ..the second man is the Lord from heaven.

c. The Earthy Are Adam And His Descendants While The Heavenly Are Jesus As Well As His Descendants.
1 Corinthians 15:48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

d. We Have Adam’s Image: We Have Borne The Image Of The Earthy
1 Corinthians 15:49a And as we have borne the image of the earthy,”

e. We Shall Also Have Jesus’s Image: We Shall Also Bear The Image Of The Heavenly
1 Corinthians 15:49b … we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.”

Note:
* Not everyone has the the image of God
* Only unless we receive Jesus for our salvation, then only we can receive the image of God

4. The Gosple of Christ Is What Gives The Image Of God
2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
* people who do not believe on Jesus Christ for their salvation do not have the image of God
* only unless they receive the gospel of Christ, then only they can receive the image of God

Note:
* The whole lost world don't have the image of God, they only have a spiritual nature that is dead
* Only unless we are born again, then we can have that image of God
* Thats why spiritual dealings of God, we don’t see them frequent in the old testament because the spiritual nature is dead.
* Thats why we gonna find out later on God's dealings with Israel is physical a lot and the blessing are physical, and the kingdom is physical and their promises are physical
* Why is there a sudden switch in the new testament with everything being spiritualize? Its because when when Jesus came, He brought a way to make alive the dead spiritual nature. Jesus introduced the doctrine of born again which is to make alive the dead spirit

B. THE PROMISED SEED WHICH WILL ONE DAY BRUISE SATAN’S HEAD

I. CAIN (SEED OF SATAN) TAINTED MAN’S SEED

1. Cain Killed Abel
Genesis 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
* What happened here? In the Edenic Covenant, God promised a seed to Adam who will bruise Satan's head
* Satan immediately at work trying to ruin the seed of man and he did it with Cain
* As a result, see what happens in the next verse

2. Satan Is Starting His Own Seed Now. Man’s Seed Tainted By Satan’s Seed: The Bible Says Cain Is Of That Wicked One (Cain Is The Seed Of Satan)
1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
* Satan immediately at work againts the seed of man so that he can make Cain of Satan's seed
* Did Satan succeed? Yes.
* See the next point to see how satan succeed again

II. THE SONS OF GOD (FALLEN ANGELS) TAINTED MAN’S SEED

1. They Intermingled With Man’s Seed And Produced Giants And Superhuman Offsprings
Genesis 6:1-4 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
* When these sons of God intermingled with the seed of man, they produce giants and superhuman beings
* Why was all these happening? Because Satan was trying to ruin man’s seed

C. GOD DEALS BY PHYSICAL DEALINGS DURING THIS TIME

* Remember, because the spirit is dead, after Adam sinned, God had to deal with them physically
* So it makes sense, even though they had faith, they had to do works out of it physically because God is dealing with physical and he can't based it on spiritual things
* Today's christians we can just go by faith (spiritual) and God can deal with us spiritually because we have a spiritual nature that is alive as a result of Christ sacrifice
* During their time they never had that because when Adam sinned, the spiritual nature died, so God can't do that with them. God deals primarily by physical dealings.
* However we see that God's grace is carried from the beginning to the end (Genesis-Revelation) as He will do some sort of spiritual dealings too but he does not do everything based of spiritual dealings
* Because the spiritual nature was dead, that's why works (physical) that was their salvation system and they cannot do spiritual because the spiritual nature of man was dead
